So, I had a quick question and I will leave it completely up to my readers and visitors.  I was thinking about putting 1 or 2 Adsense ads on my blog that are non-obtrusive to maybe help offset the cost of running my server costs a bit.  I mean I know I wouldn’t make much from Adsense but I was wondering if I added it would anyone mind it and would you support me by clicking some of the ads sometimes when you visit my blog?  Of course, it would not be anything obtrusive or distasteful.  But, I wanted to get my reader’s opinions before I decided on anything because after all I want my readers to be happy to and not be bothered by some simple ads.  So what do you think?.

Excellent question and it’s been asked many times. After having my own blog for nearly 6 years now, it ends up being a personal choice. I don’t, and won’t put them on mine because I want my blog to be something away from the normal grind of the day, it’s my sandbox. It isn’t personal, but I don’t click on any ad on the net. I already have what I need and don’t need to spend my hard earned cash on trinkets. That being said, if it helps out in the pocket and every little bit helps, go for it.

    xo, Papa

I’m relatively new to your blogs and enjoy them greatly! I wouldn’t mind, as long as they aren’t pop-up ads. Keep up the great work!

We are all being affected by the economic situation at hand and like papa fester said above every little bit helps so go for it. I think that most of us “adults” understand the fact that things are “tight”. Good luck to you.

but to be honest, i would not klick em..

To get any clicking action you need to update this blog a LOT more often. Once or twice a week is not enough. And often you can go a few weeks with nothing new on here. Also, get over the taboo about talking about poopy diapers, already!!

I think most web users have gotten so accustomed to seeing gratuitous advertising on the majority of sites they visit, that a few unobtrusive Adsense ads aren’t likely to annoy any of your readers, Adrian. As for clicking through them, it totally depends on whether they’re useful, on-topic ads. Are you expecting ads for AB/DL fetish sites? Diaper suppliers? I don’t have much experience with Adsense; do you have control over what ads or tiers get presented?

Since, until now, you’ve provided your advice, commentary, and entertainment to the community without commercial intent, your readers already know this isn’t a for-profit blog. You certainly can’t be faulted for trying to recover your hosting costs.

But the day some talking head flashes up over the paragraph I’m trying to read and says, “You’ve won a new Nintendo Wii! Click here!”, that’ll be the last day my browser is pointed here. God I hate those! 😀

Ads – OK. Pop-ups and pop-overs – No go. These are just plain aggravating and enough to keep me away. Self defeating marketing tools.

    Keep up the good work!

I don’t have a problem with them. I’m used to seeing ads on websites anyways. If it helps you offset the cost and keeps this blog here, go for it.

This is your blog, so it’s up to you. I would not mind the slightest if there were a few simple adds on this page.

    Hi Adrian,

I really like your website and I think some google-ads won’t disturb.

However, I don’t recommend that you ask your visitors for clicking on the ads. Any activities to raise the income from google-ads artificially are a violation of the rules for google-ads.
Google checks whether there number of clicks and the income fits together to the number of visitors. If you have too much income/visitor, they will cancel your account.
Or they might also count clicks from the same IP.
Believe me, I have experience with that and my account was cancelled even without that I encouraged my visitors to click on the ads.
It was enough that my incomes recently were relatively high recently.
Once your account is cancelled chances are very little to re-activate it again. Also all money earned since the last transfer to your bank-account is lost in case of a cancellation.
So, please make your ads, but be careful.

    Greetings from Vienna

    DL

nothing wrong with ads at all, they are everywhere already from the internet, to tv, to video games even. Why not make half a cent where you can 🙂

A little while ago you asked, “What would make my website better” and nowhere in those response did I see, “Advertising!”

I think advertising may bring in a bit of money to you personally as an individual, but I don’t see how it will improve your blog.

Therefore I’m against on those grounds.

I suggest an alternate source of passive income but not advertising on this blog. A site that sponsors this one? Not directly or explicitly but create a site with advertising from day one.

Honestly i think it would be a great idea. Something to keep in mind would be if the ad is what is more or less a pop up, as in it in larges without the viewer clicking on it and such. Personally i find such ads annoying and i don’t give them a second thought. But if you found adds that pertained to the content of the site i dont think that you will have any trouble getting people to click on them every now and then. ^_^ idk just my 2cents. GL
