Secure X-Plus Diaper Review

Secure X-Plus DiaperSecure X-Plus diapers are made by the company Secure Personal Care (http://www.securepersonalcare.com).  They make several “levels” of diapers, three actually, ranging from their premium level diaper all the way to their most absorbent diaper, the Secure X-Plus.  The Secure X-Plus diaper is the diaper I will be reviewing today as I prefer their most absorbent diaper even though the other levels of their diapers are quite absorbent too and I would easily choose over other brands such as Attends and Tena.

The Secure X-Plus diaper itself is a plastic diaper that has one of the softest plastics of all the top level diapers.  If you like to crinkle then you will definitely like this diaper.  It has a very soft plastic outer covering.  Also the inner-lining of the diaper is very soft as well.  I find it important and noteworthy to mention the softness of the inner lining.  I am big on preventing skin rashes and irritation and the Secure X-Plus has not once ever given me a skin rash from rubbing – so that is a big plus in my book.

The absorbency of the Secure X-Plus definitely puts it in the top 5 most absorbent diapers category.  I am a girl and I don’t have the “luxury” of being a guy and using the maximum space of the diaper (i.e. the front) for absorbency but I was able to soak the diaper completely 3 times and could have gone probably even more but I just had to change.  No Leaks.  This was impressive I thought.  I thought it absorbed quickly to.  Being a girl, urine only really accumulates at the seat of the diaper and the back.  A man is able to take advantage of even more of the absorbency because they can use the front of the diaper for even more absorbency.  So, I would say if you are looking for a extremely soft and absorbent diaper then this is a perfect match.

In regards to the fit and comfort of the diaper, it is amazing.  Everyone has different body shapes and some products will work better for others.  The Secure X-Plus just happens to fit me perfectly and snug.  It also has waistbands to hold the diaper close to your body which is also nice for multiple reasons.  It helps with the comfort and fit but if you like that “babyish” feel then a waistband definitely adds to it.  The elastic leg gathers are a huge positive for these diapers too because not many diapers now a days come with them.  They are soft as well and comfortable against the skin while also providing a nice snug fit.

The tapes are another huge positive in my opinion.  The diaper is designed with frontal landing zone that allows you to remove a tab/tape and then stick it back on if you would like WITHOUT tearing the diaper.  I was able to undo the diaper tab and place it back on the frontal landing zone over 5 times and it was still holding strong.  So, this is a big plus for those who are casual diaper wearers and don’t want to necessarily waste a diaper if you have to take it off.  You can untape the diaper and then retape it back on later without wasting it.  It allows for easy adjustments which I always like.

Overall, the Secure X-Plus diaper is one of my Top 3 Favorite Diapers that I use.  I always make sure to have a supply of them along with my other brands.  If you were to look in my closet you would find equal numbers of Secure X-Plus and Bambino Diapers as those are my top diapers that I currently use…you would also find some lesser diapers such as Attends.  But, I am a big supporter of the more absorbent diapers last longer and withstand more so that is why I always have a stockpile of Secure X-Plus diapers and Bambino Diapers.  If you haven’t tried them – they are definitely worth giving a shot.

  1. I agree that so many diaper are with out elastic leg gathers. I want to try these diapers, the sound great.

  2. Hi Adrian, love the review! I was wondering though, could you post a picture of the diaper itself (either with you in it or just the diaper)? Love your posts! Keep it up! =) Thanks!

  3. I would agree with the review. I have tried the x plus before. While it wasn’t the diaper for me… I totally love the Secure Plus diaper. It is my diaper of choice along with the bambino. The Secure brands are wonderful diapers. The Secure Plus has many of the same qualities as the X Plus (leg gathers, plastic outer lining, no waistband however, but same landing area for tapes.) As Adrian pointed out though, this company makes a wonderful diaper and I would recommend to anyone to buy a bag. They are sooo comfortable.

  4. I forgot to add, they have free shipping in the continental U.S.

  5. Can you show any pitcher of yo in the diaper or on the diaper?

  6. I love secure x-plus. They are some of the best diapers. Great article

  7. Are these sold in regular stores or just on that site?
I thought I remembered seeing that brand in stores.

  8. Love all of your reviews and I’m curious about your process. How many times do you wear a diaper before you review it? I know you say the Secure X-Plus is in heavy rotation in your closet, but say a new one comes out. How many wearings constitute a test-run for you?

  9. Not sure how to ask this discretely, but… I am a healthy person who eats a lot and exercises a lot. This makes for, ummm… rather large diaper messes. Not to be gross, but I try to wear diapers that have a generous amount of room in the seat to handle this without highly embarrassing overspll. I avoid that at all costs, and am a clean person. From your experience – assuming you have messed in these – are they good for someone like me? Thanks so much.

  10. n16: I am not sure if they sell them in stores or not. They may carry them sporadically. They do ship free though in the US.

Nate: I have worn these for quite some time so I am not sure how many. I definitely wear them probably over 50 times before I even review something because then it allows for defects and little annoyances to come out of any diaper.

Anne: Yes, from my experience there is quite a bit of room in the seat of the diaper to allow for messes. You can always adjust it also to allow for more or less depending on your body shape too. But, in my opinion the Secure X-Plus has a lot of room in the seat for messes.

  11. I like the Secure X-Plus as well! I haven’t worn them since I bought a case of Bambinos, but I like their feel.

Something I didn’t see you mention…did you know that the same company makes both Secure and Bambinos? So it’s no big surprise that they make Bambinos really well, having all the experience from Secure Care.

(Seriously, they have the same address, made in the same place! :-})

  12. Thanks for answering my question. You mention adjusting them for more room. What’s the best technique for that? I usually feel like I don’t have enough room in the back for…um… all that needs to come out. Do you just tape looser? I’d be afraid of leaks then.

  13. Can i fond this diaper outside of US?
Because I live in Sweden (Europe) and would like to try these diapers.

  14. I thought that Bambinos were just re-branded Secure X-pluses, so they’re essentially identical. The same company owns both (they’ll deny it if you ask them, and claim just to be based out of the same office building, but take a look at the whois information of their respective websites.) Is there actually any difference between a Secure X-plus and a Bambino, save for the option of a colorful tape strip?

  15. Hmm. Looks like my comment is out of date – they no longer have identical whois info. They certainly used to, though.

  16. That is interesting Arvedin. Secure and Bambino do have the same address other than the suite #. It would seem curious that two makers of diapers that are popular to the AB community are right beside each other. It might be coincidence too, who knows. Nonetheless, both diapers are great in my mind (earlier posts will remind you that I like the Secure Plus brand) and if they do make both it then it explains to me at least why I like them so much. If you like driving a Toyota Camry then are you surprised when you like driving the Lexus? Its the same company!

  17. that is cool. i was wondering if i should try them. every review i have read i good and i have read yours. thanks for the review and keep up the blog it is cool that you do this.

  18. lets see a picture of how it fits You, many diapers do not seem to fit me very good

  19. Gang,

Just to let you all know I have a brand new from the factory Secure X-Plus and a Bambino (both in size large). They **are not** the same. The Bambino is significantly thicker, but while they both have waistbands, the bambino seems wider, (and there’s a blue something in the elastic). They both have the same full tape landing zone (gone is the split tape landing zone with the earlier Secure X-Plus) with the obvious difference of the prints between the two. The tapes are the same, and they both have the same inner leg cuffs. but the Secure X-Plus has a blue inner liner. Also, the Secure X-Plus has a “wetness indicator” which at this moment is three lines of dots. The Secure X-Plus appears to have a different outer plastic with slight “dimpling” as opposed to the “smoother” plastic of the Bambino. Since they’re apparently made by the same company (wonder why they go to these lengths to keep up the illusion that they’re two different companies?) I wonder why there are so many differences?

  20. tmdiapered,

thank you for the clarification! Crinklieness is very important to me in selecting a diaper. I liked the bambino’s absorbancy, but I didn’t like how think (and therefore uncrinkly) the outer plastic was. In your opinion, is the Secure X-Plus more crinkly? If I were wearing in in public (like a quite library) would bystanders be able to hear it crinkle as I walk past (I LOVE it when that happens). Thanks!

  21. I think they would be able to hear it especially if you were wearing shorts or sweatpants. Clothes that constrict the diaper will produce less sound so in that case you would want looser fitting clothing. Hope that helps :-)

  22. based on what i know about the Secure Plus diapers that I wear, Adrian is right that they are audible when wearing looser clothing

  23. I started using Secure X-Plus a few years ago and I remember their diapers being thicker when they had the split tape zone (which I liked, I’m a bigger guy and that made it easier to get the tapes on the zone). I thought they were the same company and they might be, they just make two diff diapers for two diff clientele. Who knows but excellent review Adrian!

  24. I think it’s pretty obvious why they would want to keep the two companies separate – ABs are a big revenue source that they want to tap, but being associated with them would drive off most of their medical users, who are obviously a larger market.

Adrian, I have to wonder. Since you’ve featured both Bambinos and Secures heavily on the blog, do you get any viral marketing pay from them? Not accusing you of being a shill or anything – your reviews are accurate, and that would be an awesome job if you could land it!

  25. Adrian,

nice review, though… but I must say that men don’t have any advantages by being able to wet the front of the diaper more…

I am incontinent and I tried dozends of products. Nearly all of the have the problem, that the front is wet and the back is NOT. Then, it begins to leak in the front or under the front.

So, to be honest, I don’t see any male advantage here!

    Best regards,
    Dieter

  26. jup, dieter´s right..

  27. Thanks! I was looking for a better diaper. I have been using attends as my daily wear but it has been leaking a lot due to my heavy wettings.

    Adrian,
Just wondering but whatever happened to your friend Kay? I would have loved to meet another diapered girl out there. It’s very rare to find “chill” diaper girls who are willing to talk to the opposite sex and not play the “victim” just for more attention.

Psst… that was also a compliment to you :)

  28. These are my favs too (or top 3). Love how much they hold, plus the fit me so much better than Abenas for some reason….they fit me perfectly. Like how you can re-adjust the tapes too.

  29. What is the most absorbent diaper obtainable? I’ve tried the Abena Abri Form Super X, the Molicare Extra Plus, and the Bambino Classico. I have yet to obtain samples of the Kendall Maxi Care KND 10 or the Kendall Lili — does anyone know where a sample packet may be obtained — and then I’ll do a comparison of the various ones. Meanwhile, the Abri Form and Molicare have my votes for the most absorbent and being able to wear them for extended time periods. Okay, the Bambino is right in there too. Stay wet and be happy.

  30. It’s too bad they’re not sold in stores, that you have to order online to get them.

  31. Are these diapers anything like Bambinos?
